Home Care and Placement
One of the most difficult decisions families face is whether to provide care at home or consider a facility designed especially for senior care. Elder Care Consultants can evaluate what needs to be done to provide high quality care and provide the information you need to make the best decisions you can. We can then quickly implement the plan.
Home Care Options
Many people assume that home care is the best option. Often it is, and if that is your choice, we can help you make the necessary adjustments to the home (grab bars installed, ramps built, stair lifts installed, equipment such as a shower chair obtained, etc.). It may also be helpful or necessary to hire aides to help provide the day-to-day care (bathing, dressing, feeding, incontinence care). Again, ECC Care Managers can help: Which home care agencies have the best staff? Which are covered by long term care insurance if you have it? How do you request a change of staff if one care giver is not a good fit?
ECC care managers have experience with several home care agencies and can help you choose the best one for your needs. If your loved one is best served and supported by a hospice care team, ECC care managers can help with those arrangements as well.
Care Facility Options
There are many types of facilities that offer care. We will talk to you about which of those facilities offer the best care for the specific needs of your loved one.
We will encourage you to tour appropriate facilities and can take you, if you wish. We can also help you with the move-in process. With support from your care manager the move will go smoothly as possible.
After the move, we maintain an advocacy role for your loved one, stepping in when necessary to ensure the best care possible.
It is important for you to know that ECC does not have any financial arrangement with assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home care agencies. We have something far more important to our clients: experience.
“Our family felt so helpless—we had no idea what dad needed, and how to provide it to him. How could we choose the right assisted living facility for him? One that could meet his medical needs while providing as much independence? Elder Care Consultants helped us navigate through the maze of options, and dad is happy and thriving.” – Serena, daughter
